Direct Flights to Uganda from the UK
You can now fly directly from London to Uganda without any stops. Uganda Airlines has started this service from London Gatwick to Entebbe International Airport on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday or Sunday. If you like, you can even return on the same day.
At the moment, this is the only direct flight between the UK and Uganda. If you don’t want the hassle of stopovers, this is your best choice.
Which Airline Goes to Uganda?
Uganda Airlines is the only one that flies straight from the UK to Uganda without any stops. The rest of the airlines will get you there, too, but you’ll have to stop at least once on the way:
Qatar Airways (stops in Doha)
Turkish Airlines (stops in Istanbul)
Kenya Airways (stops in Nairobi)
Ethiopian Airlines (stops in Addis Ababa)
RwandAir (stops in Kigali)
Brussels Airlines (stops in Brussels)
EgyptAir (stops in Cairo)
KLM (stops in Amsterdam)
SWISS (stops in Zurich)
If you don’t mind stopping, these airlines give you plenty of flight options.
Does British Airways Operate Flights from the UK to Uganda?
British Airways no longer flies directly to Uganda. They used to have a direct route from Heathrow to Entebbe, but that was stopped in October 2024. The airline dropped it because the route wasn’t making enough money.
If you try to book with British Airways now, you’ll still find flights to Uganda, but they’ll all have one or more stops. So, if you’re hoping for a direct trip, this isn’t the airline to book with.
Does Ryanair Operate Flights from the UK to Uganda?
Ryanair doesn’t fly to Uganda at all. Their routes focus on European countries, a few Mediterranean spots and some North African cities. They don’t go anywhere near East Africa. You’ll need to look at other airlines for this one.
Can you fly directly from London to Kampala, Uganda?
You can’t fly straight to Kampala because the city doesn’t have an international airport. If you book a flight from London to Kampala, you’ll actually land in Entebbe. That’s the main airport for international travel, and it’s the closest one to the capital.
Once you land, you’ll need to get to Kampala by road. It’s about an hour’s drive, depending on the traffic. Most people grab a taxi from the airport without any hassle.
Can you fly directly from London to Entebbe, Uganda?
Yes, you can. Uganda Airlines offers a non-stop service from London Gatwick to Entebbe International Airport. Right now, this is the only direct flight between the UK and Uganda. Every other airline includes at least one stop, often in cities like Doha, Nairobi or Istanbul. So if you want the fastest and simplest option, this is the one to book.
What’s the UK to Uganda flight price?
On average, a return flight from London to Entebbe costs around £400 to £430. That’s a typical fare for economy class if you're booking a few weeks in advance.
One-way flights are cheaper and often start from about £312. These lower prices are usually on routes that include a stop, and they’re offered by full-service or low-cost airlines. Direct flights are slightly more expensive, but they save you time and stress.
Keep in mind that prices often change depending on when you book and what time of year you’re travelling. If you travel in the off-season, you’re more likely to find a deal.

So if you want to get there faster, booking the direct flight is the best option.
When is the Best Time to Visit Uganda?
The dry seasons from June to August and December to February are the best time to visit Uganda with little to no rain. The weather is clear and sunny, and conditions are ideal for outdoor activities.
This is also the best time for wildlife viewing, trekking and gorilla tracking. Roads are easier to travel on, and the walking paths are drier. National parks are open, and you’ll have a much better chance of spotting animals.
When is the Cheapest Time to Visit Uganda?
The cheapest time to visit cities of Uganda is from late February to early March. Flight prices are usually lower during this period, and you can also find good deals on hotels and tours. Fewer people are travelling at this time, so it’s easier to book.
Plus, the weather is still good, and most parks and attractions are open. It’s a smart time to visit if you want to save money without giving up too much in terms of experience. Here’s a tip: If you book early, you’ll find even better deals and more options to choose from.
Will You Need a Visa to Go to Uganda from the UK?
Yes, British passport holders need a visa before travelling to Uganda. You must apply for an e-Visa online before you fly. You can’t just turn up and get one at the airport unless you’ve been pre-approved in advance.
The visa for UK citizens is issued through Uganda’s official immigration website. When you apply, you’ll need to upload a few documents, including a copy of your passport and a yellow fever vaccination certificate. Once approved, you’ll get an authorisation letter by email, which you’ll need to print and bring with you when you travel.
Also, note that your passport must be valid for at least six months from the date you arrive in Uganda. Without the e-Visa and proper documents, you won’t be allowed to board your flight.
Is it safe to visit Uganda in 2025?
Most parts of Uganda are safe for visitors in 2025, but there are some areas where you need to be extra careful. The UK government advises against all but essential travel to places near the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo. This includes areas near Queen Elizabeth National Park and Semuliki National Park.
In south-west Uganda, travel is generally safe but should always be done with trusted guides. Security escorts often travel with tourists in those areas.
The north-east regions like Karamoja, Teso and Acholi have had cases of armed raids and cattle rustling, so avoid travelling there at night.
